I managed luckily to change my password, which i thought whoever was trying this, might still have difficulty with, as i had two factor on, and they would need access to my phone number. So I typed in my details and immediately, my phone popped up with message saying someone was trying to log in from Chicago (i'm in a different country), and if i should allow or not, just before i go to press 'no', my phone starts to erase. The link it took me too, was also not a secured link, which should have been the obvious sign that this was BS.īe the Idiot that I am, I thought, I've got two factor authentication, whats the worst that can happen. I tried searching the URL and using whois, but couldn't find anyone mentioning it, which i found strange. There were also some of things that seemed to suggest it was legitimate. But still because I'm an idiot, thought that their might be some legitimacy to the email, because why would the original time out and take me to the secured website. So i checked and could see my lost phone and it didn't have a green light nor any information on the last location. So i left it and soon got a few more emails and SMSs saying my phone had been used and the original email, which i clicked on the 'see last location' link, seemed to have timed out and went to the this URL. Immediately i was like, no this must be a phishing attempt. the link took me to a page that looked like the id., but the URL was.

Now i was very cautious, i checked the link before hand on my phone, because i thought if it was malware, it might be safer to try on iOS than my windows computer.

Now the email looked legit, as you would expect, and had a link to page to see the last location, which is normal if you have 'notify when found' turned on. So last night i received a text message and an email saying my lost iPhone 6S (which i had lost recenty).
